How to return a Cisco Catalyst 3560 switch back to default factory configuration. —
This is easier than my last post. lol
You need access to the switch via the serial cable. And you need the enable password which if you don’t know it.. can be reset.
Connect to the switch as before at 9600baud.
Open a terminal program and get to the command line on the switch.
Step 1: Get into enable mode
switchname: en
Step 2: Erase the configuration.
switchname# write erase
Step 3: Delete any vlans on the switch by deleting vlan.dat
switchname# delete flash:vlan.dat
Step 4: Reboot the switch.
switchname# reload
And that’s pretty much it… on reload it will ask you if you want to configure.
